Working Remote

My interactions with the hard working people in remote areas of Indonesia
One consistency I observed in my interactions with Indonesian people is that they smile in the face of hard work. Weather its sawing wood to shape 20 meters above the ground, with no safety ties, in 30 degree weather or, lifting bricks while wading through water, they never fail to crack a smile and laugh together.
No matter their age, they work with skill, speed and intent.

Tidal Harvest
As the tide receded in the Jungutbatu Passage, the farmers waded slowly into their plots, tending to the delicate seaweed lines laid out with care. I stepped in alongside them, watching my footing between the crops and the sea urchins. I photographed and listened as they shared their stories of labor and resilience.
